Manager David Moyes' Real Sociedad side have made an approach to Tottenham Hotspur regarding a loan deal for midfielder Etienne Capoue, according to reports in Spain.

The former Manchester United boss is desperately trying to bolster his squad during the current transfer window after an inconsistent start to life in La Liga.

Moyes took charge of the Spanish side in November with the aim of overturning their poor start to the campaign under previous manager Jagoba Arrasate but he has only managed to secure 10 points out of a possible 24, leaving his side 12th in La Liga, just three points off the relegation spots.

The Scottish boss is trying to take advantage of his contacts in England to secure the services of Premier League stars who are struggling to secure regular time at their current clubs.

San Sebastian-based newspaper Noticias de Guipuzcoa claims the former Old Trafford manager has earmarked Spurs' Capoue and Arsenal forward Joel Campbell as his top priorities for the current transfer window.

The north London club signed Capoue in summer 2012 after paying Toulouse around £9m to secure his services. But the 26-year-old has since struggled to secure regular first-team opportunities under past Spurs managers Andre Villas-Boas and Tim Sherwood, and current boss Mauricio Pochettino.

Even though the France international started the first 11 Premier League games of the campaign under Pochettino, he is yet to make a starting appearance since the defeat against Stoke City on 9 November.

Noticias de Guipuzcoa reports Real Sociedad have already contacted Spurs to find out what the midfielder's availability is and believes Moyes can play a crucial role to secure the deal.

Meanwhile, recent reports in Spain also claimed Real Sociedad have agreed personal terms with Campbell to join Moyes' side until the end of the season but the club are yet to reach an agreement with Arsenal.
