'I Abhor Paedophilia,' Sarah Ferguson Says In Exposed Email Following Prince Andrew's Arrest
The former Duchess of York's connections to Epstein continue to draw public attention.

Public attention has once again focused on Sarah Ferguson, the former wife of Prince Andrew, as continued scrutiny surrounds the Duke of York's past association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, as documented by The Guardian.
Prince Andrew has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing and has not been charged with a criminal offence. However, the long-running controversy has had lasting implications for his public role and reputation, prompting renewed examination of those within his former inner circle.
Ferguson's Past Links to Epstein
Sarah Ferguson, widely known as Fergie, married Prince Andrew in 1986. The couple divorced in 1996 after 10 years of marriage, following a period marked by intense media scrutiny. During the 1990s and early 2000s, Ferguson was frequently portrayed by sections of the British press as a controversial figure within the Royal Family.
Ferguson faced financial difficulties that were widely reported at the time following her divorce. Despite Epstein's 2008 conviction in the United States for soliciting prostitution from a minor, she later acknowledged maintaining contact with him, a decision that attracted public criticism and raised questions about judgment rather than legality.
Following The Guardian report on Fergie, questions were raised about financial arrangements connected to Epstein and whether they indirectly supported aspects of the lifestyle of Ferguson and Prince Andrew's daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. No allegations of wrongdoing have ever been made against either daughter.
Ferguson sought to capitalise on her royal connections on several occasions. These included the publication of memoirs in 1996 and 2011, as well as her involvement in a 2010 undercover investigation by the News of the World, during which she was filmed offering access to Prince Andrew in exchange for £500,000.
The investigation involved journalist Mazher Mahmood, who posed as a "fake sheikh". Ferguson later issued a public apology, describing the episode as a serious error of judgment.
In a 2006 interview with the Evening Standard, Ferguson said she had severed ties with Epstein, stating, 'I abhor paedophilia and any sexual abuse of children and know this was a gigantic error of judgment on my behalf.

Prince Andrew and Ongoing Reputational Impact
Prince Andrew has consistently denied allegations relating to Epstein. In 2022, Buckingham Palace announced that he would step back from public duties and cease using his HRH style following a civil settlement in the United States with Virginia Giuffre. The settlement was reached without any admission of liability.
Sky News and CNN World reported the broader reputational impact of the Epstein scandal on the British monarchy, particularly as Epstein-related court documents have been released through US legal proceedings.
The release of files connected to Epstein by US courts and the Department of Justice has renewed public debate. Legal experts have repeatedly noted that inclusion of a name in such documents does not imply criminal wrongdoing.

Royal Figures Remain Under Epstein-Era Spotlight
While Prince Andrew remains outside public royal life, attention on Sarah Ferguson underscores the continuing fallout from Epstein's network and the long-term reputational consequences for individuals associated with him.
Ferguson has not been accused of any criminal offence, but her past links to Epstein continue to attract scrutiny as new information emerges.
