Scots vote for or against independence today (18 September) at polling stations across the country.

While the Yes campaign have been more prominent on the streets, a straw poll from those casting their votes have delivered an overwhelming No.

One pensioner told IBTimes UK that being part of a union was better for society and the scant detail over what independence would entail was not enough to convince him otherwise.

Others told us that breaking the 307-year old union with England would have grave repercussions on the economy.

However, many No voters didn't want to voice their views on camera for fear of reprisal.

We did, however, find one Yes voter who was 18 years old who simply said "I want the country to be independent."

The latest Ipsos Mori poll on 17 September revealed that the No vote is in the lead by two points.
