It doesn't get more star-studded than this. Estranged Bollywood rivals and superstars Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan may appear on the big screen alongside Amitabh Bachchan.

According to a report in Bollywood Life, producers of the film Bhootnath Returns starring Amitabh Bachchan have approached Shahrukh and Salman for a cameo in the film. And it doesn't stop at just that. Besides trying to get the Khans together, the makers are reportedly also planning an item song featuring both of them.

The film is a sequel to the 2008 sleeper hit titled Bhootnath, which had Bachchan playing a ghost. The original film also had a cameo by Shahrukh Khan. This move on the producers' part to include Salman in the sequel seems more like a marketing gimmick to boost the prospects of the movie.

"The two stars might have hugged each other at Baba Siddiqui's historic Iftar party last year (2013), but there's no denying the fact that Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan are not yet ready to better their strained equation," states the report.

Recently Salman Khan appeared as guest on the popular talk show Koffee With Karan, where he clearly stated that even though there is no bitterness between them (him and SRK), there is no chance of them becoming the best of friends. Shahrukh Khan chooses to remain diplomatic or mum whenever asked questions around this subject.

It remains to be seen whether Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan is able to get the Khans together for his film.

Currently Shahrukh Khan is busy shooting for his next film titled Happy New Year co-starring Deepika Padukone. The movie is due for a Diwali 2014 release. Salman Khan is busy with the promotional activities of his upcoming release, Jai Ho, which releases on 24 January, along with shooting for his next film titled Kick.
