Most people learned that Shia LaBeouf's marriage was finished the same way they learn everything about him: through footage they wish they hadn't seen. Early on Tuesday, the actor was filmed bare-chested and bloodied on a New Orleans street, paramedics crouching around him while Mardi Gras crowds watched. Within hours, TMZ confirmed he and Mia Goth had separated roughly a year ago.

There had been no statement, no filing, nothing public. The couple parted ways around mid-2025. Goth, 32, remained at the family's Pasadena address with their three-year-old daughter Isabel, while LaBeouf, 39, left for Louisiana at the start of January.

As of this week, no divorce paperwork has surfaced, according to Page Six.

Cops Called Months Before Mia Goth and Shia LaBeouf Split

TMZ also claims that there was a 911 call to the couple's Pasadena home in November 2024, about half a year before they are believed to have separated. The caller reported a domestic disturbance. Dispatch audio captured a woman, logged as an 'uncooperative female,' demanding that her husband leave. A man could be heard swearing in the background. Pasadena police attended but filed no formal report, and no arrests were made.

Nobody is claiming that one call explains the breakdown. But given everything else on the record, it is difficult to dismiss.

LaBeouf was said to have relocated to New Orleans in December, paying just over $1 million (£810,000) for a three-bedroom Uptown cottage. His father, Jeffrey, already lived nearby. People around him said he wanted to 'reset and refocus' and was sober.

Shia LaBeouf's Mardi Gras Arrest

That sobriety claim, however, fell apart in public.

In a Mardi Gras weekend report, The Daily Mail detailed days of erratic behaviour across the French Quarter, with LaBeouf allegedly turning up bare-chested and visibly drunk at multiple bars. A bartender told the outlet he had been 'terrorising the city.' Staff at one venue said he tried to vault the bar and pour his own drinks before they removed him.

Police were allegedly called to a Royal Street bar at around 12.45 a.m. on 17 February after LaBeouf allegedly struck a member of staff who told him to go. He was said to have returned after being removed and hit the same worker again, then landed a punch on a second man's nose. He was charged with two counts of simple battery and held without bond at Orleans Parish Prison.

Footage circulating online appeared to show him headbutting someone before being wrestled to the ground. He was released later that day and headed directly back to the festivities. WGNO, a local television station, captured him dancing through the streets with jail paperwork clenched between his teeth. His only public comment was a two-word post on X: 'Free me.'

Concern from Goth

People close to Goth told TMZ she is 'concerned' about her estranged husband but 'over' the marriage. She remains in contact so that he can speak to Isabel. Months before any of this became public, Goth gave an interview to Elle in which she refused to discuss LaBeouf at all. 'What I don't want to talk about is Shia LaBeouf,' she told the magazine. She talked about her daughter instead, calling Isabel 'the greatest gift of my life.'

Goth and LaBeouf first met in 2012 on the set of Nymphomaniac: Vol. II. She was 19 at the time. A Las Vegas wedding followed in 2016; divorce papers came two years later, though they eventually reconciled. During their time apart, LaBeouf began a relationship with FKA Twigs, who filed a lawsuit against him in 2020 alleging sexual battery and assault. The matter was resolved out of court in July 2025. The couple had resumed wearing their rings by 2020, and Isabel was born in 2022. On Jon Bernthal's Real Ones podcast, LaBeouf credited Goth with saving his life.

The last time they were seen together publicly was on a walk in Los Angeles in January 2025, as reported by the Daily Mail. By December, LaBeouf was in Louisiana. By February, he was on a New Orleans footpath surrounded by strangers with camera phones. Neither party's representatives have commented.
