Sony's new Xperia Z4 smartphone will come in two variants in terms of screen resolution, according to a new disclosure.

While there have been reports that Sony's new addition to the Xperia series could either sport Quad-HD resolution or full HD resolution, the Chinese site Eprice via reports that the Xperia Z4 will come in two variants with different resolutions.

The smartphone will reportedly have a 5.2in screen with full HD resolution, which is like the Xperia Z3, but the US-bound model will feature 2K screen resolution.

The report also provides details about a few other hardware features. There will be an improved front-facing camera inside the Xperia Z4 and the battery capacity of the smartphone will be to match the high-end configuration.

The new Xperia handset is expected to retain its slim and light-weight build and feature a glossy metal frame, surrounding the edges.

The waterproof capability of the smartphone will also be improved. The USB port will not need a flap in order to protect the internal components from water.

Other rumoured specs include octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor with 64-bit support, paired with Adreno 430 graphics unit, 32GB in-built storage, 4GB RAM, LTE Cat.6 and Bluetooth version 4.1.

To know more about the Xperia Z4, Xperia fans will have to wait for Sony's official launch, which is highly likely at this year's Mobile World Congress (2015 MWC event) in Barcelona.
