The 'Stanford Rapist', Brock Turner, has been released from jail after serving three months of a six-month jail term for sexually assaulting an unconscious woman in January 2015.

The former student and athlete will now spend three years on probation, which he is expected to serve in his hometown of Dayton, Ohio, after being released from Santa Clara County Jail.

Protests against his early release, and the lenient sentence handed to him by Judge Aaron Persky in June this year, have been planned for 10am local time – several hours after Turner, 20, completed his sentence there.

Turner left the jail at 6am local time and got into a waiting vehicle without making any comment to local press.
