Hold your breath a little while longer. The Star Wars stand-alone film Rogue One will release its first trailer on 7 April on Good Morning America and will probably be available online a few minutes later. Walt Disney has already released a 10-second teaser and from the little that we can gather from the short clip, there is a new kind of stormtrooper in town.

According to Slash Film, Rogue One plays out a side story that is set between Star Wars: Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope, during the Age of the Empire. Like the latest Star Wars: The Force Awakens film, this one also has a female protagonist. The Theory of Everything's Felicity Jones will play the lead alongside Milk's Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn of Bloodline, The Last King of Scotland's Forest Whitaker and Mads Mikkelsen of NBC's Hannibal.

The complete cast was revealed at Disney's D23 Expo in August 2015 and included Hong Kong martial arts actor Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen (Let the Bullets Fly), Riz Ahmed (Nightcrawler) and Alan Tudyk.

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy offered an idea of what the storyline for the new movie is. "Rogue One takes place before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope and will be a departure from the saga films but have elements that are familiar to the Star Wars universe," she said in a statement. "It goes into new territory, exploring the galactic struggle from a ground-war perspective while maintaining that essential Star Wars feel that fans have come to know."

Star Wars: Rogue One is set to release on 16 December 2016. Watch the trailer debut on 7 April on Good Morning America between 7am and 8am ET.
