Soap star Suzanne Shaw and fiancé Sam Greenfield are expecting their first child together.

The former Emmerdale star, who has a son, Corey, from a previous relationship, announced the baby news by posting a video of her surprising her partner on Twitter.

In the five-minute clip, which was filmed just before Valentine's Day, the 33-year-old star can be seen whispering to the camera before dropping the bombshell.

After calling unsuspecting Greenfield into their bedroom she makes the businessman read out a poem she wrote, which reads: "It's nearly Valentine's Day it's really quite silly, my feelings for you are switching around willy nilly.

"I'm so happy, so happy, then I feel sad. I'm gloomy, I'm joyful, oh c**p this is bad. My body is clammy, then I'm in a deep sweat. Sometimes I'm giddy, sometimes I fret. I'm looking for comfort deep in the fridge, recently I've wanted to jump off a bridge.

"What are the reasons for all of the above? Sam, I really do wish you the best of luck. Happy Valentine's Day."

Greenfield is quickly overcome with emotion after opening a black jewellery box laid on the bedside cabinet to discover a positive pregnancy test. He sheds a tear as she gives him a hug.

The couple, who got engaged in June 2014 after a year of dating, were soon inundated with congratulatory messages from fans and fellow celebs.

"Sam and I are delighted to be expanding our family. I wanted to make the big reveal extra special for both Sam and Corey so I decided to video the occasion," Shaw said in a statement.

"We're all over the moon and can't wait to meet him or her when they arrive in October. It was definitely an extra special Valentine's Day for us!"
