An aspiring teenage model has been left blind in one eye after she had bleach thrown in her face during an attack in Hull.

Victoria Smith, 17, was left with burns on her body and lost the use of one eye after she had the corrosive thrown in her face after leaving a house party in Hull.

A 17-year-old girl had been arrested on suspicion of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent in connection with the incident which left Smith in "excruciating pain".

She was taken to Hull Royal Infirmary to be treated for her injuries.

Smith, who also goes by the name Toria Melody, wrote on Facebook: "One of my eyes is now physically impaired and I am blind in [it], I will most likely never receive my vision in my right eye again.

"The outer layer of my eyes are permanently damaged and my hair has turned green from the bleach and has fallen out at the front. I have burns on my body from all the acidic chemicals inside the bleach. I am in excruciating pain in my eyes as the PH in them was above 10."

Smith said the attack had left her emotionally damaged and "set her back" having been the victim of bullying at school.

She said: "As well as my physical health being abysmal so is my emotional self-esteem as it took me a year to finally start leaving my house and going to college after not going to school for over a year and being so terrified of people after being bullied for over seven years.

"This has 100% set me back and I honestly cannot see myself coming out again for a long time after realising just how cruel bullies now a days really are."

Smith said the one positive to come out of the attack was her half-sister, whom she had never met, managed to get in contact with her after reading about her story.

Humberside police said officers were called to an alleged assault on the Albert Avenue junction in Hull on 20 August.

A spokesperson added: "A 17-year-girl was with a friend after leaving a house party when a known girl allegedly threw bleach in her face.

"The victim was taken to Hull Royal Infirmary for treatment but was not detained.

"A 17-year-old girl was arrested following the incident on suspicion of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent to do grievous bodily harm. She has been released on police bail pending further inquiries."
