Heinze set for Roma switch Reuters

All the latest transfer rumours from Roma as the Italian giants move a step closer to signing ex Manchester United and Real Madrid defender Gabriel Heinze. Roma are also linked with moves for Dutch international Maarten Stekelenburg and Lucho Gonzalez but could lose Daniele De Rossi to Manchester City.

Roma are said to be ready to tie up a deal for ex Manchester United and Real Madrid defender Gabriel Heinze. The Argentine full back left Marseille last month, is said to be on the verge on signing for the Italian giants on a one year deal. Gabriel Heinze is expected to sign a deal with Roma on Friday when he is due to complete a medical.

Sky Sports understands that Ajax goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg is keen on a move to the Italian capital. The Dutch goalkeeper, who was a star at last year's FIFA World Cup, is keen to join Roma this summer and his agent has admitted talks between the player and representatives from Roma have taken place. Rob Jansen told Voetbal International: 'Maarten would like a move to Roma; otherwise I would not be having talks with the club.'

Ajax are said to be keen to offload their goalkeeper as his contract expires in twelve months' time and the Dutch club can't afford to lose him for free. Roma are said to be continuing negotiations with the player's agent and an announcement is expected over the weekend.

Roma are also linked with Marseille attacking midfielder Lucho Gonzalez. Roma are keen to exploit the dire financial situation at the club which has the 2010 Ligue 1 champions having to release players from expensive contracts. The Italian club are said to be keen to tie up a deal for Gonzalez as soon as it can be arranged as they fear clubs will try and scupper any deal. Roma have been tracking Gonzalez all summer and they are hoping to open talks with Marseille in the next few days.

Goal.com reveals that Roma could be set to lose their influential captain Daniele De Rossi to Manchester City. The website claims: 'Manchester City are ready to offer Roma €23m [£20.3m] for De Rossi and can give him €9m [£7.9m] per annum over four to five years," a source close to Roma toldGoal.com.'

De Rossi's future at the Stadio Olimpico has become uncertain after the two failed to reach a deal in recent contract negotiations and Roma could be persuaded to sell due to the Italian's contact running out next year.
