All the latest transfer rumours from White Hart Lane as Harry Redknapp is linked with moves for Ibrahim Afellay, and Mirko Vucinic. However, it seems as though the north London club have lost out in the race to sign Juan Mata with Arsenal said to be closing in on the player. Bolton is ready to offer Gary Cahill a new deal to scupper Tottenham's attempts to sign the player.

Tottenham are said to be on the verge of signing Barcelona winger Ibrahim Afellay. The Dutch international is said to be keen on a move to White Hart Lane and Harry Redknapp is ready to offer the European Champions £7m for the player.

The Daily Mirror report that Afellay, who has struggled to hold down a first team place at the Nou Camp, will be allowed to leave on the cheap after Barcelona secured the signing of Chilean international Alexis Sanchez. The newspaper reports that Harry Redknapp has highlighted his intention to sign the player to Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy.

The Daily Mail report that Tottenham are on the verge of losing out in the race to sign Gary Cahill. The newspaper claims that the defender is close to agreeing a new deal with Bolton, and has accepted that his move from the Reebok Stadium will not happen this year.

Bolton has been keen to tie Cahill to a new deal in order to prevent the player leaving for free next summer. Cahill is said to understand Bolton's fears and is ready to sign a new deal. Tottenham expect a greater transfer release clause to be included in the new deal and they may have to shelve plans to buy the defender until next summer.

Tottenham have also been dealt bad news after Juan Mata's agent claims his client will join Arsenal. Tottenham are said to have challenged Arsenal's bid for the Spanish under 21 captain but the player has said he will join Arsenal.

"Juan is a wanted man in England. A number of clubs are after him but he will want to play in the Champions League. I am sure he will do well in England," said Mata's father and agent, Juan Mata Senior.

Valencia had hoped to get as much as £20m for his signature but Mata has a clause in his contract which allows him to leave for £13.5m. Wenger is said to want to finalise a deal for the player before the start of the Emirates Cup this weekend.

According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham are ready to offer Roma David Bentley and Niko Kranjcar in a bid to land Roma striker Mirko Vucinic for less than his £15m valuation. Harry Redknapp is ready to offer the Italian giants the two fringe players plus £8m for the Montenegrin forward.
