Until Dawn 2 Sends Ghost-Hunting Youtubers to a Tropical Island Where Choices Decide Who Dies
Ghost-hunting YouTubers encounter real supernatural threats in the upcoming PS5 horror game, Until Dawn 2

A remote tropical island becomes a deadly playground in 'Until Dawn 2', as a group of ghost‑hunting YouTubers discover the supernatural horrors they chase for views may be terrifyingly real and the player's choices decide who lives and who dies.
The upcoming PlayStation 5 horror game puts players in control of Dead True, a group of young paranormal content creators whose staged investigations take a dangerous turn.
Their trip to an abandoned island quickly becomes a fight to escape alive, with the choices players make determining which members of the group survive and which meet a grisly end.
The latest trailer offers a closer look at the group and the decisions awaiting them, including scenes suggesting that several characters can suffer potentially fatal consequences.
From Viral Thrills to Deadly Consequences
The group has built its identity around investigating ghosts and paranormal legends for an online audience. But after arriving on the island, the horror stops looking like staged entertainment and begins to take a deadly turn.
PlayStation describes the setting as a ghost story inspired by tales of tragedy, violence and supernatural vengeance. The group must confront their own fears while trying to find a way off the island alive.
That gives 'Until Dawn 2' a particularly modern twist on a familiar horror set‑up. These characters are not simply tourists who stumble into danger. They have gone looking for it because there is an audience waiting for their next frightening discovery.
The question is what happens when the cameras stop being useful and survival becomes more important than getting the next shot.
Every Choice Shapes Who Survives
Like its predecessor, 'Until Dawn 2' is built around player choice, meaning there is no single guaranteed path through the nightmare.
Decisions made during conversations and dangerous encounters can alter the story and send characters towards safety or death.
Players will also have to make quick decisions when there is little time to consider the consequences.
A decision that appears harmless could affect relationships within the group or open up an entirely different route through the story.
Other choices could leave a character exposed when the supernatural threat closes in. Multiple endings are also possible, giving players a reason to return to the island and discover what might have happened if they had made different decisions.
Tropical Island Setting Changes the Rules
The 2015 'Until Dawn' trapped its characters in the snowy Blackwood Mountain wilderness. 'Until Dawn 2', by contrast, swaps the freezing mountains for a tropical island filled with abandoned buildings, dense vegetation and hidden dangers.
The tropical setting may look calm in daylight, but PlayStation is using the contrast to create an environment that can quickly become unsettling. Players will explore abandoned facilities, search for clues and study their surroundings as they attempt to understand what happened on the island.
The game is being developed by Firesprite rather than Supermassive Games, the studio behind the original. It is therefore a new beginning for the franchise, with a new cast and setting while retaining its defining choice‑driven horror formula.
Ghost Hunters Become the Story
For Dead True, the island begins as another opportunity to turn fear into entertainment but 'Until Dawn 2' turns that idea on its head.
The ghost hunters may have arrived hoping to film something frightening enough to send their channel viral. Instead, they could become part of the horror story themselves and, because their fate rests in the player's hands, there is no guarantee that everyone will make it to dawn.
'Until Dawn 2' launches on 28 January 2027 on PS5.
