Five people have been shot at a California club night, hosted by singer Chris Brown.

The RnB artist was performing his song Loyal at the Fiesta club in San Jose, when a fight broke out and shots were fired at 1.20am on Sunday. (11 January)

Four victims were taken to hospital with gunshot wounds and a fifth later walked in for treatment.

None of the victims are believed to have suffered life-threatening injuries.

Video footage of the shooting has been posted online via social media. In one mobile phone video, Brown can be seen looking on as the shots ring out.

The singer was reportedly heard exclaiming: "Oh, them n****s gettin' it in over there." He then ducks and is pulled to the back of the stage by a bodyguard. Seconds later, more shots were fired.

Brown tweeted the footage with the caption 'I'm 100'. Police confirmed that the Grammy-winner escaped the incident unharmed.

The gig was abandoned as security personnel ushered Brown away. Several people have been detained in connection with the shooting, police said.

The event was a VIP birthday party for Brown's manager and a one-off performance ahead of Brown's nationwide tour starting next month, which includes a show in San Jose.
