Judge for the British talent show X Factor, Kelly Rowland, is unlikely to renew her contract and sign up for another season after struggling with the internal politics and the panel's ongoing rows, according to a report in London's Evening Standard.

The feuds on the panel have left Rowland "feeling pretty low", an insider revealed.

The insider said while everyone is aware of the pantomime-style element of the judges, Rowland did not realise it was something she signed up for. "She is refusing to take part in them and it is causing a lot of friction between her and producers. She joined [the show] to help find and develop new music talent," said the insider.

The series has suffered plummeting ratings and many viewers believe arguments between the judges are part of a plan to boost audience attention.

The Evening Standard report says judge Gary Barlow was hit by claims that many of his put-downs were written by comedian Ben Winston.

Rowland is said to be "overwhelmed by the scrutiny that comes with being a judge" according to the source quoted in Evening Standard's report. "As things are now, it is highly unlikely she will return next year," they added.

Rowland was recently forced to drop her duties on the hit reality show indefinitely, after coming down with a severe throat illness. The singer's rep confirmed in a statement last week that Rowland is extremely ill with a viral throat infection and her doctors aren't permitting her to fly.

"Kelly is devastated she won't be here for this weekend's show. Kelly will be returning to the show as soon as she has recovered. The girls have been in touch to wish her speedy recovery and they can't wait for her to get back," said Rowland's rep.

This weekend two X Factor contestants face elimination and Lady Gaga is believed to perform on Sunday's show.
