YouTube has released its annual rewind video that reflects on the biggest events and trends of the year.

This year brings us "The Shape of 2017", based on Ed Sheeran's smash hit song. And, like every year, the video is a mixture of interesting scenes, YouTube celebrities and mashed-up music.

Here are just some of the biggest trends that made the cut in 2017:

  • Fidget Spinners
  • Despacito by Luis Fonsi
  • Ed Sheeran's Shape of You
  • Salt Bae
  • A YouTube logo solar eclipse
  • The Shooting Stars meme
  • Jake Paul
  • MKBHD

The video also makes a trip to the Internet graveyard, where tombstones are labelled with past trends. The Harlem Shake, the dab, All Star by Smash Mouth and Rickrolling all get a mention. Even "cash me ousside, how bow dah?" was on a grave, listed from 2017 to 2017.

The 2016 video, titled The Ultimate 2016 Challenge, was just as quirky. It featured Justin Bieber's "Sorry", rainbow bagels and "Damn Daniel". And to cap 2016 off, the video finished with a healthy dose of Carpool Karaoke.
