AC Milan look set to sign the gifted Argentine after Pastore says he will not be leaving Serie A Reuters

The pick of today's football transfer rumours from AC Milan as reports suggest the San Siro club are about to make a £25m bid for Chelsea defender David Luiz. Javier Pastore has given AC Milan a boost by saying he will be staying in Serie A next season if he leave Palermo, putting AC Milan in pole position to sign the gifted Argentinian. However, AC Milan have conceded defeat in their pursuit of Napoli's Marek Hamsik as their valuation of the player is too high for Milan.

Tuttosport has suggested that AC Milan could be ready to make a bid for Chelsea defender David Luiz.. AC Milan are said to be keeping a close eye on the Chelsea defender's situation as it is thought that new Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas would prefer an English centre half was said to be unimpressed with Luiz's performances at the end of last season. Villas-Boas also coached David Luiz at Benfica where he was reportedly frustarted at Luiz's lapses in concentration.

The news agency reports that a bid in the region of £25m could be enough to tempt Chelsea to sell the defender who made promising start to his Stamford Bridge career but was found wanting against Manchester United in the later part of the Premier League season. Tuttosport say that Milan have pencilled Luiz as a long term target as have Barcelona, who made an enquiry with the Brazilian defender's agent last month.

It has been revealed that Javier Pastore have put AC Milan chiefs on high alert after he revealed he would not be leaving Serie A if he transfers from Palermo this summer. Pastore said: If I leave Palermo then it will certainly be to join a stronger side. I've been playing in Italy for two years and I'm very happy there. I would like to stay on the peninsula' the Argentine told Sky Sport Italia.

Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini yesterday stated that four foreign clubs have shown an interest in the player, with one Italian club, believed to be AC Milan, waiting on the side-lines. The Palermo chief has said that Pastore can now leave the club for around £40m, despite valuing the midfielder at almost £60m last summer.

However, Milan supremo Adriano Galliano has ruled out any move for Marek Hamsik whilst the player is valued at £45m. Hamsik has been a long term target for the AC Milan and the San Siro club recently admitted that they were looking to recruit reinforcements following the departure of Andrea Pirlo to Juventus last month. That admission promoted Napoli to slap a £45m valuation on Hamsik in a bid to fend off interest from Milan.

It appears that the tactic has worked with Galliano saying: 'If Aurelio De Laurentiis (Napoli President) sees £40m covering their costs there is no chance you will see Hamsik at Milan.'

AC Milan are now set to turn their attention to Juventus target Arturo Vidal although sources close to the San Siro suggest that moves for Ricardo Montolivo and Alberto Aquilani are also being seriously considered.
