Joleon Lescott's agent has revealed that Besiktas are in discussions with Manchester City and are looking to sign the defender during the ongoing transfer window.

Lescott's representative, James Featherstone of OmniSports Management confirmed that the Turkish outfit are in talks with the Citizens' management.

The England international's contract with City expires at the end of the current campaign and reports surfacing on New Year's Day claimed that the Turkish club want to sign the 31-year-old.

"It is true that Besiktas have made contact regards Joleon. Joleon is able to talk to interested clubs now as he is in the final six months of his contract and a number of clubs have expressed an interest in him," Featherstone told Sky Sports.

Lescott's future at the Etihad was thrown up in the air following the acquisition of Martin Demichelis in the summer. The former Everton player has only featured in eight matches in the league this season.

Meanwhile, the defender's agent has stated that Lescott wants to honour his contract and is fully committed to City's cause to win trophies this season.

"However, at the moment Joleon is focused on doing his best for Manchester City and is ready to give his all when called upon," Lescott's agent explained.

"Joleon is a Manchester City player, so if any club are interested in signing him prior to his contract expiring they have to agree something with Manchester City first and then we will see if we can take it any further," he added.

It will be interesting to see if the Chilean manager will allow the 31-year-old to leave the Etihad in this transfer window, given the number of fixtures that his side will have to play this season.

City are competing for silverware in all the four competitions this season. They are second in the Premier League table with 44 points, one behind leaders Arsenal after 20 matches and have also qualified for the knockout stages of the Champions League.

Pellegrini's side are also in contention for the Capital One Cup as they take on West Ham United in the first leg of the semi-finals, prior to which they face Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup clash this weekend.
