Indian actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan chose a beautiful golden Tarun Tahiliani sari for amfAR's 20th annual Cinema Against AIDS gala, held on Thursday night, at the Hôtel du Cap in Antibes, in France.

The 39-year-old Bollywood diva rocked the red carpet, flaunting a combination of metallic tones and an ethnic Indian style and displaying an absolutely stunning 24-carat look.

The glamorous former Miss World is a regular at the red carpet for the Cannes Film Festival and rarely fails to impress fashion watchers. Her record for style has been well met this year as well, with the actress sporting creations from Elie Saab and Indian designer Sabyasachi in earlier appearances.

On this occasion though, Aishwarya's shimmering gold sari, complemented with a chignon hairstyle, has garnered mixed reviews for the L'Oreal ambassador.

The actresses' high-necked blouse, which brings back memories of the jacket she wore with a sari last year (designed by the Indian duo of Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla) and an over-cooked hairstyle received particular criticism

There were also a few negative remarks for the black satin clutch she carried for the premiere of BehindTheCandelabra, which she attended in a blue Gucci gown and sporting hot pink lips.

Her previous red carpet appearances at Cannes 2013 included one in a heavily embroidered black and gold Sabyasachi sari and with a golden hair ornament, for Cannes' nod to the 100th anniversary of the Indian cinema industry. Meanwhile, she wore a black lace-print Elie Saab Spring 2013 Couture gown for the screening of Inside Llewyn Davis.

This year marks the former beauty queen's 12th consecutive appearance at the Cannes Film Festival.
