Android 4.1.1 XXDLI5 for the international version of the Samsung Galaxy S3 (i9300) has been leaked.

Users looking to update the Galaxy S3 to the latest firmware may follow the instructions below. IBTimes UK warns readers it will not be held responsible for damage to devices. Users are advised to back up all data before proceeding, ensure phone is factory unlocked and the battery has more than 80 percent charge. In addition, also ensure USB drivers for the Galaxy S3 are downloaded and USB debugging mode enabled. This firmware is compatible only with the Samsung Galaxy S3 (i9300).

Steps to Install Android 4.1.1 XXDLI5 for Galaxy S3

    • Download Android 4.1.1 XXDLI5
    • Turn Galaxy S3 off and place it in Download Mode (press and hold Volume Down, Power and Home buttons until a warning message appears and then press Power again to enter Download Mode)
    • Start Odin and connect the Galaxy S3 while in Download Mode
    • In Odin, select these files in the order mentioned
        • Click on PDA and select file CODE
        • Click on PHONE and select file MODEM
        • Click on CSC and select file CSC
        • Click on PIT and select .pit file
        • Note: Ignore last three if such files do not exist
    • Start installation process through Odin
    • After installation, the Galaxy S3 will restart. Unplug device and turn phone off again
    • Start phone in Recover Mode (start by pressing Volume Up, Home and Power buttons)
    • In Recovery menu, select Wipe Data > Factory Reset to perform data wipe
    • Reboot phone

The Galaxy S3 is now running Android 4.1.1 XXDLI5 firmware. Check version by navigating to Settings > About Phone.

To Root Android 4.1.1 XXDLI5 Firmware

    • Download Odin v1.85
    • Turn Galaxy S3 off and place it in Download Mode (press and hold Volume Down, Power and Home buttons until a warning message appears and then press Power again to enter Download Mode)
    • Start Odin and connect the Galaxy S3 while in Download Mode
    • In Odin, click on PDA and select root package CF-Root-SGS3-v6.4.tar
    • Start installation in Odin
    • After installation, the phone will restart. Unplug device only when Home screen re-appears
    • The Samsung Galaxy S3 is rooted to Android 4.1.1 XXDLI5 firmware.
