Overview

Arsene Wenger and his men enter this fixture after being knocked out of the Capital One Cup by Chelsea in midweek. The north London side lost to the Europa League winners 2-0 at home with Cesar Azpilicueta and Juan Mata scoring for the Blues.

The defeat was Arsenal's second in three games in all competitions, having earlier lost against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League. The last two defeats were at the Emirates.

Wenger and his men have busy fixtures ahead as they travel to Germany to face Dortmund before heading to Old Trafford to face Manchester United next weekend.

Meanwhile, Liverpool come into the weekend after a 4-1 victory over West Bromwich Albion. Luis Suarez scored his first hat-trick at Anfield as Brendan Rodgers's men sealed a routine home victory.

England international Daniel Sturridge was also on the scoresheet. Their latest victory put Liverpool third in the Premier League table with 20 points, trailing league leaders Arsenal by two points.

What the Managers Say

Arsene Wenger: "It's important. It is a big game for us and we want to respond well. It was a disappointment on Tuesday [against Chelsea], and we want to respond in a very strong way in a competition where we are in a very strong position."

Brendan Rodgers: "Saturday won't be the be-all-and-end-all in terms of whether we can make the top four or not, but I think what we have shown so far is that we are going to be in the conversation."
