Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice will release on 25 March 2016 Warner Bros

Michael Shannon, who played General Zod in Man Of Steel, said something a few days back about having "flippers" over his hands on the sets on Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice. This statement led fans to believe that it might have something to do with Zod transforming into the rumoured villain Doomsday in the film. After all, we all saw a glimpse of Shannon as a dead Zod in a body-bag in the Dawn Of Justice trailer. However, the actor is now trying to do some pretty unconvincing damage control.

Michael Shannon as Zod Warner Bros.

"I wasn't there," he claims in an interview with The Daily Beast. "It's a really awkward situation—I'm in the trailer for a movie that I didn't work on." The actor added, "Somebody was asking me about this in New York and I made up some ridiculous bullshit answer about how my character Zod has flippers, and this went viral on the Internet or something and people have been asking me about that. That is so obviously a complete bullshit story, right? But people took it seriously."

Shannon then himself mentioned "Doomsday" while joking about the entire episode before adding that he would love to work with Zack Snyder again. "Maybe they should add it, I don't know! Maybe in Part 3, Doomsday will have flipper hands. I mean, look—nothing would make me happier than to work with Zack [Snyder] again, he's hysterical and he's a lot of fun to work with," the actor said.

The next part totally seems like something that was fed to him by the studio's PR team to make sure no spoilers are leaked but Shannon seems to be a man on a mission - first he said that he did not work on the film and then reveals that he went over and "did some voice-over stuff."

"The thing about the whole Krypton universe, apparently, is that even when you destroy them, there are ghosts," he stated. "The first [film], Jor-El (Russell Crowe) is there even though he's been dead for lord knows how long. I went over and did some voice-over stuff because it's like that ghost thing. But I don't know if I'm supposed to say that. I get very nervous."

Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice is slated to release on 25 March 2016.
