American singer Beyonce Knowles' daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, has been snapped by an eagle-eyed fan while out on a shopping spree with her mum.

Former Destiny's Child singer Beyonce took her daughter on a shopping trip to the Bergdorf Goodman store in Manhattan. The 30-year-old wore a colourful, graphic-print romper, with her new braids twisted into a big bun on top of her head, all accessorised with big hoop earrings.

Meanwhile, six-month-old Blue Ivy looked adorable in pink pants and a floral top, complete with curly hair.

A lucky fan managed to take a photograph of Beyonce with her daughter. Predicatably, the image soon went viral.

Beyonce and rapper husband Jay-Z welcomed their first child on 7 January, at the Lenox Hill Hospital in New York. Just a few days later, Blue Ivy became the youngest person to appear on a Billboard chart when she featured on her father's song Glory. The song was released shortly after her birth and Blue Ivy's cry can be heard on the track.

The happy family have recently posted photographs on Tumblr, and posted a message asking for privacy.

"We welcome you to share in our joy. Thank you for respecting our privacy during this beautiful time in our lives. The Carter Family," the note read.

In an earlier IBTimes UK report, Beyonce said the inspiration for her daughter's name came from a poem by Rebecca Solnit. The R&B songstress posted a passage from the poem - A Field Guide to Getting Lost - on her official Tumblr account.

In addition to her musical career and Twitter fame, Blue Ivy has been named an honorary citizen of Croatia's Island of Hvar, because of a vacation video in which a then-pregnant Beyonce pointed out the unusual hue of a tree's bark.

"We woke up this morning, took a nice little walk, passed by this beautiful blue tree. I think it is blue ivy, which would be quite appropriate!" she said in the 15-second video clip released on her Tumblr account.
