Almost half of people in the UK will watch TV shows or films on a mobile device over the Christmas period.

The data, collected in a poll of over 4,000 UK residents commissioned by Vodafone, is the equivalent of each Briton watching more than 15 hours of content over Christmas.

Consumer director of Vodafone Cindy Rose said: "With so much fantastic film and TV content now available on smart phones, it's no surprise that we're gearing up for some great holiday viewing this Christmas.

"Catching-up on award-winning dramas, comedies and the very best kid's entertainment has never been easier. Whether you're at home or on the go, there really is something for the whole family to enjoy."

The poll also found that Karl Pilkington (The Ricky Gervais Show, An Idiot Abroad) is the character British people would most like have Christmas dinner with. The sadly departed Sir Richard Attenborough's Kris Kringle from Miracle on 34th Street came second with Will Ferrell's Buddy the Elf in third.

Kiefer Sutherland's 24 was found to be the TV series Britons most want to catch up on over Christmas.
