A video has emerged showing the moment dozens of cars and lorries were washed down a street after torrential rains brought heavy flooding to parts of southern Spain.

In the amateur footage, uploaded to YouTube on 7 September, a variety of vehicles large and small emerge from under a bridge as they are carried down the street by the fast flowing currents of muddy water.

The video is reported to have been filmed in Adra, a small coastal town in the Almeria province of southern Spain. At least 30 people in the town trapped in their cars were rescued after water levels rose to over half a metre.

Torrential rains also caused heavy flooding in Valencia, Granada, Alicante and Almeria. The emergency services have put out a serious flood emergency warning after reports of one fatality, a 61-year-old man in Polopos, Granada who was killed after his car was washed away.
