Godzilla 2 monsters unveiled at Comic-Con Facebook/Godzilla

Legendary Entertainment' team hit the stage at Comic-Con and revealed that Godzilla 2 is going to be even 'bigger and badder' than the first one.

Although Gareth Edwards, who directed Godzilla 1, was not physically present at the panel, he appeared via video and announced that the fans keep their expectations quite high.

Godzilla was first introduced at the fanfest in 2012.

The Comic Con panel also disclosed that three new monsters, Mothra, Rodan and Ghidorah will join the next Godzilla franchise, reported Variety.

Gareth Edwards will return to direct Godzilla 2 after he completes working on the Star Wars spinoff film for Disney and Lucasfilm. That movie is set to release on December 16, 2016.

After the success of this year's Godzilla, Toho Co, which owns the rights to the character, gave Legendary the greenlight to move forward with sequels and use three of its most popular monsters from the Godzilla universe.

Legendary then rolled out a teaser which stated "there are others."

The new teaser is heavy on retro-styled military footage and hinted that this instalment of monsters will rely heavily on back-story, and the teaser also showed a brief outline of each of the monsters.

It ended with a familiar demand via title card: "Conflict: Inevitable. Let them fight."

An official release date and title have yet to be announced for Godzilla 2.
