Question: What's red and green and travels at 200 mph? Answer: A frog in a blender.

It may be an old joke but some juice bar vendors in Peru are claiming it's no laughing matter that their special frog juice is helping to cure a number of their customers' common ailments, including loss of libido, asthma and bronchitis.

Maria Elena Cruz, who sells the blend of frog, carrots, honey and Peruvian maca root, said some of her clients have told her tell her it has cured numerous medical complaints.

"Frog juice is good for anaemia, bronchitis, bones, the brain, fatigue, stress and it is mostly for children, adults, people with anaemia, respiratory issues and sometimes tuberculosis," she says.

Cecilia Cahuana, 35, is also a fan of the green concoction and says: "It immediately cures asthma, bronchitis. It has vitamins and plenty of proteins."

One of the problems, however, is that the frogs are from the Telmatobius coleus species which are on the critically endangered list of the International Union for Conservation of Nature.

Another issue is that so far there has been no scientific evidence presented that confirms the benefits of the frog juice.
