England will take on Switzerland in the Euro 2016 qualifier clash at the Wembley Stadium on Tuesday, 8 September.

Where to watch live

Kick-off is at 7.45pm BST. Live coverage of the game will be available on ITV 1.

Overview

England have sealed a berth in next year's European championship in France following their 6-0 win over San Marino on 5 September. They became the first team to qualify for Euro 2016.

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney scored from the spot-kick and has become the top scorer for his country along with Sir Bobby Charlton. One more goal will see him overtake the Red Devils legend to become the top scorer for the Three Lions.

England have maintained a 100% record in the qualifiers as they have won all seven matches of Group E. They have scored 24 goals and conceded three in the process and Hodgson will be looking to experiment with his squad against Switzerland as Michael Carrick has returned to Old Trafford with an unspecified injury. However, the manager would have a James Milner and Jonjo Shelvey to experiment with in the centre of the park.

As for Switzerland, they have also remained unbeaten in the group, having won five matches and settling for a draw in the other two. They are second on the table after they came from two goals down to beat Slovenia 3-2 in the last fixture.

What they say

Roy Hodgson: "I'm not sure early qualification gives us any particular advantage because we are going to take a lot of time to plan and improve anyway. What it could do is give me the opportunity for experimentation because we did not get that ahead of the World Cup when we had to win our last two qualifiers to get to Brazil."
