Epstein Files 2026: 7 Most Unexpected Names in New Emails—Including a Major Oscar Contender
Many references are social, professional, or one-sided attempts by Epstein to inflate his access.

The US Department of Justice's latest Epstein document release, made public on 30-31 January, spans more than three million pages of emails, calendars, contact logs, and internal correspondence.
While much of the material reinforces what was already known, several names stood out not because of criminal allegations, but because of how unexpectedly they appeared in Epstein's orbit.
Many references are social, professional, or one-sided attempts by Epstein to inflate his access. Still, the breadth of the names has sent shockwaves because of their unexpected nature.
Here are seven of the most surprising figures to emerge from the newly unsealed emails.
1. Steve Tisch — Oscar-Winning Producer
The most striking name in terms of volume is Steve Tisch, the Oscar-winning producer behind Forrest Gump and longtime co-owner of the New York Giants. Tisch appears more than 400 times in email threads from 2013 alone, reportedly more than almost anyone else in this batch.
The messages show Epstein positioning himself as a social connector, sending Tisch profiles and explicit descriptions of adult women, arranging introductions at his Manhattan townhouse, and following up afterwards. Tisch later invited Epstein to his Giants suite for a game.
Tisch has since said he regrets the association, never visited Epstein's island, and believed the interactions involved consenting adults.
2. Elon Musk — Island Invitations That Never Materialised
Emails from 2012–2013 show Epstein repeatedly trying to lure Elon Musk into his social circle, including invitations to Little St. James. In one exchange, Musk asked what day might be 'the wildest party,' while Epstein floated helicopter transport and holiday timing.
However, no evidence suggests Musk ever went. Musk has forcefully denied visiting Epstein's island or attending events, saying Epstein 'hounded' him and that he declined every invitation.
This was shocking to many in the sense, as Musk himself during his 'break up' period with Trump made claims related to the Epstein files, once posting that 'Trump is in the files' and labelled it as the biggest bomb.
3. Howard Lutnick — A Family Lunch That Raised Eyebrows
Howard Lutnick, now US Commerce Secretary and longtime CEO of Cantor Fitzgerald, appears in December 2012 emails discussing plans for a family lunch on Epstein's private island.
The emails include enthusiastic replies from Lutnick's wife, detailing arrival by yacht with children and another family. This surprised observers because Lutnick had previously said he severed ties with Epstein years earlier.
4. Mira Nair — The Name That Shocked Many
Acclaimed filmmaker Mira Nair appears in a single 2009 email from publicist Peggy Siegel describing an after-party at Ghislaine Maxwell's Manhattan townhouse following a screening of Amelia.
The email casually lists attendees — including Nair, Bill Clinton, and Jeff Bezos — and reads like standard industry chatter. There's no indication that Nair interacted with Epstein directly or had any ongoing connection.
However, her inclusion sparked international attention, especially after her son, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, faced heckling over the mention.
5. Lady Gaga — Name-Dropped, Not Present
Lady Gaga's name appears several times between 2013 and 2016, largely through wellness entrepreneur Deepak Chopra, who suggested inviting her to philanthropic dinners related to her Born This Way Foundation.
The emails read as speculative networking rather than confirmed plans. There's no evidence Gaga attended any event, communicated with Epstein, or appeared in flight records.
6. Narendra Modi — Indirect Mentions
India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi is referenced indirectly in 2017 emails involving billionaire Anil Ambani, whom Epstein described as likely exaggerating as Modi's intermediary.
Epstein claimed insight into Modi's US and Israel diplomacy, statements India's Ministry of External Affairs quickly dismissed as 'trashy ruminations.' There's no evidence Modi ever met Epstein or knew of him, but the claims caused diplomatic ripples nonetheless.
7. Timothée Chalamet — The Name That Isn't There
Perhaps the loudest surprise is the mention of Timothée Chalamet.
According to an email from Peggy Siegel to Jeffrey Epstein dated 27 January 2018, Chalamet's name was mentioned in a conversation about Woody Allen and the MeToo controversy.

Siegel writes, 'Even my friend Timothy Chalemet, who donated his salary from Woody's last film to THREE political agencies, was sick about being forced into any action by the press. He could not go anyplace on his 'Call Me By Your Name' Oscar campaign without the press hounding him about working with Woody.'
For now, neither Chalamet's team nor critics have further commented on the matter. Furthermore, in such cases, context matters. Frequency matters. And absence of evidence still matters.
