Epstein Files: 7 Conspiracy Theories the 2026 Release Has Thrust Back Into Focus
A deep dive into the conspiracy theories reignited by the latest Epstein document release.

To date, the US Department of Justice has released more than three million pages of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein, including emails, investigative notes, flight logs, property records, and surveillance footage gathered over years of federal scrutiny.
The tranche, described by officials as a final large release connected to Epstein's 2019 death and the prosecution of Ghislaine Maxwell, offered granular detail but no sweeping new indictments.
While mainstream media is reporting the release while restricting itself to ethical and credible grounds, social media has decided to jump down the rabbit hole. As a result, long-circulating conspiracy theories, some dating back a decade, are back on the table and this time with evidence found in the release.
Here are seven theories the 2026 release has revived.
1. Epstein Faked His Death
The most intriguing theory that ever existed related to the conversation is that the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein is still alive.

Epstein's 2019 jail death was ruled a suicide by medical examiners; however, sceptics have floated the idea that he escaped. The new files do not revisit the autopsy in detail, but online users argue that redactions and financial documents referencing offshore trusts hint at a hidden exit.
There is no evidence in the release indicating Epstein is alive. Although images of a man in Israel, who has striking similarities to Epstein, are being widely circulated online. Theorists have also revived the claim that the crime scene in his cell also looks staged.
The FBI has not commented on these claims.
2. Epstein Was Murdered to Protect Elites
Closely related is the claim that Epstein was killed to stop him from testifying against powerful associates. Guard failures in 2019 fuelled that suspicion.

The 2026 files include communications showing Epstein's attempts to maintain relationships with influential figures after his 2008 plea deal. However, no document substantiates a coordinated plot to murder him.
3. A Mossad Honeypot Operation
Another resurfacing theory alleges Epstein ran a blackmail scheme on behalf of Israeli intelligence, often citing his past association with former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak.
Unredacted emails showing social or business communication between Epstein and Israeli figures have been circulated as proof online. However, a direct link connecting Epstein to a state intelligence operation has not yet been reported.
4. Pizzagate Connections
The debunked 2016 'Pizzagate' conspiracy — which falsely alleged a Democratic child-trafficking ring — has also resurfaced.

Conspiracy theorists claim to see coded language that includes words like 'ice cream', 'pizza' and more in newly released emails. There is also an online chart that translates these code food words into their alleged meanings.
In a 2018 email, an associate asked Epstein, 'What time do you want to get pizza and grape soda tomorrow?'
While neither the FBI nor the DOJ has commented on these claims, the word 'pizza' appears more than 600 times in the newly released documents.
5. Satanic or Occult Rituals
Certain media and documents found in the latest release have revived the claim that Epstein was running a satanic ring on his island, where he and other participants indulged in activities like 'drinking human blood,' 'cannibalism,' 'worshipping Satan, ' or offering him human children.'

One particular word from the emails that has pushed this theory harder was due to a financial transfer labelled 'Baal' in older documents. However, fact-checkers note that the term in question appears to be an acronym in business records, not a reference to a deity.
6. Genetic Experiments
According to a report by CNN, which quotes an email from the release, Epstein was allegedly paid for genetic experiments. He was apparently using his own genetic material for regenerative medicine.

A researcher who was also a senior doctor at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) in Boston at the time told CNN that Epstein was enrolled in the Harvard Personal Genome Project. The project actively gathered data from volunteers to help scientists and researchers generate more findings about genes.
Joseph Thakuria said, 'Mr. Epstein was enrolled in the Personal Genome Project, which would study his genetic predisposition to various health conditions. At one point, a $2,000 check was provided to cover DNA sequencing.'
7. A Global Elite Cabal
Perhaps the broadest theory suggests Epstein's contacts reveal a coordinated global cabal controlling politics and finance.

The files show Epstein networking aggressively with wealthy and powerful figures, accommodating their various demands, both political and personal.
While there are endless theories that exist in the dark web related to Epstein files, some have already debunked a long time ago, while others are again getting attention as new revelations surface daily.
