Viral footage purporting to show Jeffrey Epstein alive in Tel Aviv has garnered 1.5 million views on Instagram, reigniting conspiracy theories that the disgraced financier faked his death in 2019. The post, shared by the account uncensored_lens_, depicts a bearded man resembling Epstein walking with two bodyguards.

The caption notes the footage has 'reopened a question many thought was settled', referencing Mossad's history of exfiltration and identity changes. Fact-checkers have dismissed it as AI-generated, but the video continues to circulate as of 9 February 2026.

The Viral Sensation

The footage emerged on Instagram three days ago, quickly accumulating 1.5 million views, 11,200 likes, and 722 comments. The user uncensored_lens_, known for providing 'uncensored' content, posted the video purportedly showing three men on a Tel Aviv street, with the middle one looking like an aged Epstein with longer hair and a beard.

The caption emphasises that people 'aren't speculating in a vacuum', citing Mossad's documented history of covert operations. Comments include doubts, with one user saying 'Ai, original photo had watermark and signs don't make sense'. Another commented, 'I don't believe he died. That guy knows a lot of secrets.' The mixed reactions are hardly a surprise, given the case's tangled history.

This post follows the US Justice Department's release of thousands of Epstein documents in December 2025, which included video logs, redacted transfers, and details of his interactions with high-profile figures like Donald Trump and Bill Clinton.

A fake suicide video was briefly posted by mistake, adding to the confusion.

Conspiracy Theories Revived

On X, the story has spread rapidly. A post by @AlFarsi1201 showed photos, captioning 'A Jeffrey Epstein lookalike spotted in Tel Aviv. Questions remain.' Another from @suzamaroo shared the video, saying 'A photo just surfaced from Israel — the guy in it looks shockingly like Jeffrey Epstein.' Some users link it to drone footage supposedly of Epstein's island after his death, though experts say it's likely a groundskeeper or unrelated person, with no verified date.

Theories often cite Epstein's ties to intelligence agencies, including through Ghislaine Maxwell's family. One X user claimed 'Epstein is still alive. That's the reason for the missing tape footage.' Fresh claims reference a 4Chan post and DOJ files as proof he's in Israel, despite no official confirmation.

Epstein was arrested in July 2019 and found dead on 10 August that year, in what was ruled a suicide. Documents released by the DOJ in December 2025 revived interest, leading to this February 2026 viral episode.

Hindustan Times reported that social media users quickly labelled the video fake, while the BBC highlighted how such AI-created visuals fuel disinformation.

Outlets including Moneycontrol pointed to clear indicators of artificial creation, such as mismatched features and inconsistencies in the background.

The persistence of these theories underscores how social media amplifies unverified content, often with a touch of dry irony despite repeated debunks. As of now, no official probe into the new footage has been launched, and Epstein's death in 2019 remains officially ruled a suicide. The 'Epstein alive in Tel Aviv' rumour, engaging as it may be, lacks any solid foundation in fact.
