Netizens React to Discovery
Images of the alleged PokéStop spread through social media platforms, with netizens reacting to this find and sparking conversations about the discovery. Some have noted which types of Pokémon players may find on the island. Others have contemplated what this might mean, knowing the disturbing details that took place on the infamous island. Some remain sceptical about the credibility of the discovery.
'Only first-stage Pokemon are found on Epstein Island,' said one commenter.
'This is big, it means Nintendo could see who used that Pokemon stop,' said another commenter, with one correcting them and pointing out that the game is initially developed by Niantic in collaboration with Nintendo.
'Better, they tracked all GPS positions and if somebody uploaded AR scans then they have the photos,' one response to the comment above.
'I mean, it was almost certainly placed there, and primarily used by, spoofers looking to get memey screenshots,' said another response to the comment.
'Surely the developers can find out who spun the Pokestop, then you can work out who was on the island,' said another commenter.
'I can only imagine the amount of lures he bought,' said another one.
As the game was first released in 2016, three years before Epstein died in his jail cell in New York in 2019, netizens wonder who else might have been playing the game. They have also speculated that the victims may have been playing the game at that time. Netizens have also speculated that Epstein could have been emailing the CEO of Activision or reached out to his contacts at Google and Niantic.
Milwaukee Recruiter Paid to Find Staff for Epstein in 2013
Epstein Island has come under heavy scrutiny following the latest release of files by the DOJ related to the investigation. Amongst the details that have emerged about the island was that Epstein reportedly paid a Milwaukee-based recruiter to find staff for his island in 2013. Peter Mahler was hired by Epstein, who was already convicted of sex trafficking by that time, according to a report.
In email exchanges between Mahler and Epstein, the convicted sex offender was looking to hire a personal assistant and manager to work on his island and his New Mexico ranch. Epstein was mostly disappointed by Mahler's work and the arrangement eventually fell through. The messages showed Epstein preferring Asian candidates, whilst Mahler tried to conceal Epstein's identity from potential candidates and referred to him by another name.
As there was no evidence of any illegal activity, Mahler was not accused nor charged with any crimes related to Epstein.
