Erika Kirk's Leaked Zoom Call Unveils Widow 'Beaming' Days After Assassination
The footage, which was never intended to be public, has sparked online debate over grief, privacy and how bereavement is perceived in the digital age

The investigation into the killing of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk has taken a bizarre turn following the leak of a private video call featuring his widow, Erika Kirk, and several unnamed participants from an internal staff meeting of the organisation.
The leaked Zoom call recording shows Erika Kirk appearing in remarkably high spirits just days after her husband's high-profile assassination.
In the footage, Erika is observed 'beaming' and laughing while discussing the 'event of the century', her husband's memorial service, and touting the fact that it 'overflowed' with over 275,000 attendees and generated over 200,000 merchandise sales.
While parts of the call show her becoming emotional and describing her staff as 'breathing angels,' the moments of levity have ignited intense public debate regarding her 'appropriate' reaction to the tragedy.
The Zoom call allegedly took place on 21 September 2025, just 11 days after the shooting. The footage was leaked to the public on 28 January 2026 by conservative commentator Candace Owens, who blasted the 'off-putting' tone of the call.
Erika participated in the call from Turning Point USA's headquarters, while the assassination itself occurred at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah.

The leaked video has divided the public and investigators alike. To her supporters, the footage captures a woman seeking moments of strength to lead Turning Point USA as its newly appointed CEO. However, to critics like Owens, the 'beaming' expressions and focus on 'numbers and metrics' have raised eyebrows.
The activist was gunned down by a rifle shot from a rooftop while facilitating a 'Prove Me Wrong' table, a crime for which 22-year-old Tyler Robinson has been charged with aggravated murder.
A Spectrum of Grief or a 'Red Flag'?
The juxtaposition of Erika's laughter and her subsequent tears during the call has become a focal point for critics. In one segment, Erika dismisses staff 'beef' by stating, 'My husband's dead... it puts life into perspective,' a sentence Owens labelled as 'moving pretty quickly to the acceptance phase.'

This is my biggest Question. Who’s beefing over at TPUSA? She can’t stop mentioning the Beef.

However, the leak has complicated the organisation's internal narrative. As Erika recently received a posthumous Presidential Medal of Freedom on behalf of her husband from Donald Trump, the timing of the leak suggests an ongoing power struggle within conservative media.
Security Fears and the 'Missing' Suspect
Beyond the widow's emotional state, the leak has highlighted the intense pressure the Kirk family remains under. Tyler Robinson, who reportedly confessed to his father and on Discord that he 'had enough of [Kirk's] hatred,' is currently facing the death penalty. The fact that a private internal Zoom call could be intercepted and leaked months later suggests that the organisation's digital security remains a significant concern.
As the legal case enters its next phase, defence attorneys are currently fighting to block the 'extremely graphic' video of the murder from being introduced as evidence in an upcoming 3 February 2026 hearing. The widow's response has been clear: she has publicly branded those who celebrate the video of her husband's death as 'sick.'
