After the super success of the Fifty Shades Of Grey movie, fans are eagerly waiting for the next sequel, Fifty Shades Darker, the future of which is still unknown as director Sam Taylor Johnson has already left the franchise.

Max Greenfield, Schmidt of the TV series New Girl, is rumoured to join the cast of the second instalment of the hit movie and he has reportedly shown interest in playing the character of the billionaire entrepreneur Christian Grey.

"Maybe I could be the 51st Shade? I don't know, that's definitely a move I'm looking to make," he told US Weekly.

The 34-year-old funny man added that he finished the EL James written best-seller erotica novel and believes he is the best suited person to play the controversial role of the sex obsessed character of Christian.

"I'd probably retire after I did [Fifty Shades Darker] because I think my performance would be just spot-on," he added.

Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson have portrayed the roles of Grey and the naive college student Anastasia Steele respectively. However, rumours have it that the Northern Irish actor's wife Amelia Warner was not comfortable with her husband's explicit sex scenes with Johnson prompting the actor to leave the popular franchise.

But these reports were thwarted by the 32-year-old star's spokesperson who clarified that Dornan would be back in the sequel of the BDSM themed erotic movie.

"Jamie is delighted that the film is breaking box office records worldwide and whilst the studio has not made any formal announcements about sequels, he is looking forward to making the next film."

But currently Universal Pictures is facing the biggest challenge of finding a director to helm the blockbuster franchise, especially after Taylor Johnson quit following her tiff with the novel's author.

The producers of Fifty Shades are yet to declare an official release date for the movie.
