'Get the man a sippy cup': Trump awkwardly drinks water like a child and Twitter has a field day
Needless to say, Twitter mercilessly taunted the president over the embarrassing moment with a deluge of hilarious jokes, comments and memes.
US President Donald Trump took yet another awkward sip of water during his national security speech on Monday (18 December) and Twitter is having an absolute field day. Trump unveiled his "America First" national security strategy at the Ronald Reagan Building.
"On January 20, 2017, I stood on the steps of the capital to herald the day the people became rulers of their nation again," the president said before reaching for the glass.
Carefully holding the glass with two hands, Trump hunched his shoulders and took a small sip of water before licking his lips and setting the glass down.
The "thirsty" moment comes a little more than a month after Trump's weird water bottle moment following his Asia trip when he picked up a small bottle of Fiji water with two hands and took a sip in the middle of his speech.
Trump's strange mid-speech water breaksstrike as ironic considering he mercilessly mocked Senator Marco Rubio during the 2016 election campaign for needing to take a sip of water during his 2013 speech in response to Barack Obama's State of the Union address.
Needless to say, Twitter mercilessly taunted Trump over the latest embarrassing moment with a deluge of hilarious jokes, comments and memes.
"America Thirst," one Twitter user wrote. Another added: "What is it with Trump and his two-handed chipmunk-like style of drinking water?"
"Trump sure is having a lot of awkward water-sipping moments for someone who mercilessly mocked Rubio for the exact same thing," Adam Best wrote.
"For the sake of national dignity, will someone please give Trump a sippy cup he can lift with one hand?" one person tweeted.
Can someone please explain to me why President (COUGHbabyhandsCOUGH) Trump needs two hands to drink a glass of water?pic.twitter.com/zsBhcv9fsv#MondayMotivation

Are .@realDonaldTrumpâs hands so tiny he needs them both to pick up a glass? This is how a toddler drinks.

Again with the toddler grip on his water? Seriously, WH, get the man a sippy cup - maybe with the Presidential Seal on the side (you can sell cheaper ones on his website), but that is NOT a good look him - or, by extension, for the nation.ð

Get you a man (or a woman) who holds you as delicately as Trump holds his water. pic.twitter.com/7aqxyHo02N

I believe we as a country need to spend more time talking about how Donald Trump drinks water.https://t.co/LuFErDwYwu

Quick Quiz: 2 of these are the current President, can you correctly guess without googling? pic.twitter.com/ItX1M6aWVo

Heâs so used to drinking out of fast food chain straws, perhaps, that he canât handle a real glass or bottle? Itâs oddly fascinating. What the hell?

Quite possible, yes. One author in our book, #thedangerouscaseofdonaldtrump, writes at length about possible dementia.

Itâs hard to hold a glass with just one, very very small handâ¦

I rescind my assessment that he's a toddler. This is advanced two-handed drinking that my toddler could learn from.

Someone's gonna have to explain to me how Trump drinking water with two hands isn't a sign of physical infirmity. Because it sure as hell seems like it is.

trump reinvents the act of drinking water every time he does it
