Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's UK Christmas plans are reportedly causing a disagreement over where the family should spend the festive season.

Heatworld claims the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have different preferences for Christmas; according to it, Harry favours staying in Britain, while Meghan wants to return to Montecito, California.

The claim comes as the couple settle into an extended stay in the UK with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

The Sussexes returned to Britain in late August after spending several years living in the United States. Their children have since started attending school in England, although their exact school and home locations have not been publicly disclosed.

The children's schooling could make international travel more complicated during term time. Heatworld said the family could no longer travel between California and the UK whenever they wanted because Archie and Lilibet are now in school.

The Heatworld report underpins the claims about the couple's Christmas disagreement. It quoted a source describing Harry and Meghan as being 'not on the same page' about the festive period. Pertinently, neither the Sussexes nor their representatives have publicly commented on this report.

Meghan Reportedly Wants Christmas in California

Meghan is reportedly missing aspects of her life in California after returning to Britain. According to Heatworld, she misses her friends, her routine and her mother, Doria Ragland.

The source quoted by Heatworld also claimed that Meghan speaks to her mother every day. However, that detail has not been independently confirmed.

The report said Meghan would prefer to spend Christmas with her mother in California and suggested she wants the family to maintain regular connections with the United States while adapting to their life in Britain.

Harry is reportedly taking a different view of the festive season. The same source claimed he dislikes the idea of leaving Britain over Christmas and sees the period as particularly important.

The source also claimed Harry is concerned that travelling to the United States could give the impression that he is choosing to spend Christmas away from his father, King Charles III. That interpretation comes from the anonymous source, and Harry has not publicly confirmed it.

The reported disagreement follows the Sussexes establishing a new base in Britain while retaining their Montecito home. Recent reports indicate the family does not intend to sell or rent out the California property immediately.

The family has also faced disruption involving the children's schooling. Reuters reported in September that photographers had targeted Archie and Lilibet at their school, prompting concerns about their privacy and safety.

Sandringham Invitation Remains Unclear

A potential Christmas gathering at Sandringham adds another uncertainty. The Royal Family traditionally spends Christmas and New Year at Sandringham House in Norfolk.

The official website records the King and other members of the Royal Family at Sandringham around Christmas in previous years. The 2025 Court Circular records the King at Sandringham on Christmas Day and for church services afterwards.

There is currently no official 2026 Christmas guest list confirming whether Harry, Meghan and their children will attend. Reports about a possible invitation therefore remain speculative.

The Heatworld report claimed Meghan would be uncomfortable waiting for an invitation and potentially spending several days with members of the Royal Family. A source described the prospect of conversations with Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, as difficult.

Those comments should not be treated as statements from Meghan herself. They are attributed to an anonymous source and have not been independently verified.

A separate report attributed to Closer has also claimed that William could choose not to attend a family Christmas gathering if Harry and Meghan were invited. Several publications have repeated the allegation, but William and Kensington Palace have not publicly confirmed it.

For now, the central question remains unresolved. Harry is reportedly keen to stay in Britain, while Meghan is said to be considering a return to California for the festive period.

The claims are particularly notable because the family is navigating its first Christmas season in Britain after years of living in the United States. However, no final plans have been publicly announced, and the couple's representatives have not confirmed the reported disagreement.
