Though the successor to HTC One is expected only in late March, the rumour mill is already abuzz with details regarding the smaller version of the handset.

The latest revelation comes from well known Twitter leaker, evleaks, who claims the HTC M8 mini will feature a 4.5in display with 720p resolution. It will use the Snapdragon 400 chip featuring a quad-core processor with each core running at clock speeds up to 1.4GHz, while paired with 1GB RAM.

The compact version of HTC M8 will have a 13 megapixel rear-camera and a five megapixel front-camera. It will offer 16GB internal storage and support microSD card for additional space.

In terms of connectivity, the M8 Mini will offer Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac and Bluetooth v4.0. The smartphone will run the latest version of KitKat software, Android 4.4.2 and feature HTC Sense v6.0. Besides, it will have on-screen navigation buttons.

It is unclear if HTC will announce the mini model alongside the HTC M8.

The HTC M8, in contrast, is expected to sport a 5in display with 1080p resolution. It will run with quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor with clock speeds up to 2.3GHz and 2GB RAM. Like its mini version, the HTC M8 will come in 16GB storage capacity and support microSD card. It will use a 2,900mAh battery inside and two semsors for the camera.
