Overview

Hull come into this game after their 1-0 defeat against Crystal Palace in the last league tie at home. Barry Bannan's late goal in the final quarter of the game saw Steve Bruce's side suffer a narrow defeat in front of the home fans.

The Tigers seem to be in poor form as Hull have managed only one win in the last five games played in all competitions. Hull City 13th in the league table with 14 points while Liverpool are second with 24 points from 12 games.

Meanwhile, the Reds enter this tie after the last tie against their arch rivals Everton ended in a 3-3 draw during the first Merseyside derby of the season at Goodison Park. Philippe Coutinho gave an earlier lead for Liverpool in the fifth minute, which was cancelled three minutes later by Kevin Mirallas.

Luis Suarez found the back of the net once again as Rodgers saw his side take a 2-1 lead before the break. However, on-loan striker from Chelsea Romelu Lukaku struck twice in the space of ten minutes in the second half to give Everton a lead.

However, the Toffees' joy of registering a win over Liverpool was cut-short by Daniel Sturridge, who came on from the bench to secure a point for the Reds in the Merseyside derby.

What Managers Say

Steve Bruce: "He's [Suarez] got to be as good a player as there is in the Premier League at the minute. He's absolutely terrific every time I see him. His work-rate, his appetite, the whole lot he brings you. All the big players have got that, it's what makes them. Take it away from him, and he's not the same player."

Brendan Rodgers: "Players will react differently. You will find some players, if they are not in the team, they just shrivel and die and have no fight. The top players when they don't play they show you every single day what they can do and that has been the case this week."
