Madeleine White Fedyk's Dog Dies After $10K Training as Owners Claim He Never Saw a Vet

British model and influencer Madeleine White Fedyk and her husband, Loud Luxury musician Andrew Fedyk, are seeking answers after their two-year-old Bernese Mountain Dog, Dunkin, died less than 48 hours after being placed in a professional training programme.

The Los Angeles-based couple had enrolled Dunkin and their other dog in an approximately four-week residential board-and-train programme with Smart Dogs Training while they were out of town. Mr. Fedyk said they had researched the company, met its owner several times and paid $10,000 (£7,600) for basic leash training.

The couple says they were told Dunkin had been taken to a park during an extreme heatwave, developed signs of heat exhaustion and died while being transferred to a boarding facility they had not authorised. They allege that he was never taken to a vet and that they were contacted hours after his death.

Questions Over Dunkin's Final Hours

Ms. White addressed Dunkin's death on Instagram, telling her 2.2 million followers that the family was 'broken, confused and angry' following the loss.

In an Instagram post, Mr. Fedyk said the couple were informed that Dunkin had been at a park during extreme heat before being transferred to another boarding facility. He said they had not been told about the transfer and alleged that Dunkin died from heat exhaustion without receiving veterinary treatment.

Ms. White also said AirTags attached to the dogs had stopped transmitting while they were reportedly at the park. She said the veterinary practice where Dunkin was taken after his death would not provide information about his condition when he arrived.

The couple are arranging a veterinary autopsy to establish the cause of death. Mr. Fedyk told KTLA that the examination was intended to help determine what happened to Dunkin.

Other Owners Make Allegations

The couple's concerns have since expanded after Mr. Fedyk said other pet owners contacted them about their experiences with Smart Dogs Training.

In a follow-up Instagram video, he said he and Ms. White had spoken with seven other families who alleged that their dogs had died in unexplained circumstances while in the company's care. He described the reports as potentially indicating 'something a lot more serious than just simple negligence' and asked other owners with relevant experiences to contact them.

The individual claims have not been independently verified, and details of the circumstances surrounding the alleged deaths have not been publicly established.

Mr. Fedyk said the couple were seeking more information while waiting for the autopsy results and wanted to help other owners who believed they had experienced problems with the training business.

Training Company Has Not Responded

Smart Dogs Training has not publicly responded to requests for comment about the allegations. Mr. Fedyk said that trainer Jeff Todd was involved in Dunkin's care, while Ms. White also identified Todd in posts about the incident. Todd has not publicly addressed the couple's claims in the reports provided.

Dunkin's death came weeks after the couple welcomed their first child, a daughter named Juliette, in June. Ms. White has continued to share photographs of Dunkin online, describing him as her family's 'sunshine boy' and saying she would not be able to fully express what he meant to them.

The circumstances of Dunkin's death have not been independently established. The couple's account remains an allegation, while the planned autopsy may provide further evidence about the cause of death.
