Hayley Williams urges fans to vote in US midterm elections during her New Orleans concert yelyahwilliams/Instagram

Hayley Williams called supporters of President Donald Trump's MAGA movement 'pieces of s**t' during a concert in New Orleans on Saturday, 10 October.

The Paramore frontwoman also declared that 'The KKK look different' and urged her audience to vote in November's US midterm elections.

She made the appeal during 'The Hayley Williams Show', her solo tour, days after a public exchange with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) over criticism of immigration enforcement.

Williams performed at Champions Square, where Magdalena Bay and Rico Nasty were billed as supporting acts. Fan footage of her closing address circulated on TikTok and X after the show.

Hayley Williams' MAGA Remarks Captured in Concert Footage

'Please f**king vote in November,' Williams told the crowd, according to a clip shared on X. She went on to call MAGA supporters 'f**king MAGA pieces of s**t' before saying, 'The KKK look different and they will not win.'

Williams finished by asking fans to take care of themselves and one another. The short recording does not show what immediately preceded her comments. She named no individual as a member of the Ku Klux Klan and did not clarify precisely whom she meant by 'they.'

The Klan is a white supremacist organisation with a history of racist violence. Williams' political comparison should not be treated as evidence of any organisational connection between the Klan and an identifiable MAGA supporter.

Her voting appeal came ahead of the 3 November elections, when Americans will elect the entire House of Representatives and roughly one-third of the Senate. No candidate was endorsed in the circulating excerpt.

Hayley Williams' Speech Wins Support and Draws Criticism

The footage spread beyond the New Orleans audience, with reactions reflecting sharply different readings of Williams' language. 'She is truly punk. Keep spreading the word Hayley!' one user wrote in a Reddit discussion.

In another discussion, a commenter who said they attended praised her performance and described her remarks about her connection to the American South.

Conservative publication Breitbart offered the opposite assessment, describing the performance as a 'meltdown.' Neither supportive Reddit comments nor hostile coverage demonstrates what most concertgoers thought. Nor is there evidence that the speech changed anyone's voting intentions.

Hayley Williams' Anti-ICE Comments Prompted a DHS Response

Williams had criticised US immigration enforcement at a 3 October concert in Chula Vista, California, near San Diego. While performing 'Ice in My OJ,' she shouted 'F**k ICE' and 'Free Palestine,' according to Rolling Stone.

DHS subsequently defended its officers. 'We suggest Ms. Williams to thank them for their service, not belittle their sacrifice,' a spokesperson told Fox News. That response concerned the California performance, not her subsequent comments in New Orleans.

On 5 October, Williams posted the department's statement on Instagram Stories alongside a profane reply, Rolling Stone reported.

Earlier in the tour, she called Christian nationalism 'the greatest threat to American democracy' before singing 'True Believer' from her 2025 album, Ego Death, at a Bachelorette Party. Her criticism targeted the political ideology, not Christianity or Christians in general.

Political appeals have been part of her performances for years. At the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas on 20 September 2024, Williams criticised Project 2025, calling it 'Donald Trump's playbook for controlling and punishing women, poor people, people of colour, and the LGBTQ+ community.'

That description was her political assessment of the conservative policy blueprint, not proof that Trump authored or endorsed each proposal. She also urged Americans to confront his agenda at the ballot box.

Two years later, the New Orleans speech returned to the same message of electoral participation, this time accompanied by an insult aimed at MAGA and an unexplained reference to the Klan.

Her recording documents the remarks, but the full context of her address remains unclear. However, she explicitly urged people to vote, with the midterm elections less than a month away.
