Dramatic video footage has emerged from the scene of a nightclub fire in which 6 Serbian teenagers lost their lives.

Ferocious flames engulfed the revellers as they enjoyed a night out on Sunday in Novi Sad in the north of the country at around 2am. These shots show the shocking height of the flames from the roof of the building.

Police said 350 people were in the building and there was a crush to get out as news of the blaze spread. Officials said the victims were 3 boys and 3 girls and were aged 17 and 18. Two other teens were hurt but their injuries aren't life-threatening.

Ivica Dacic, Serbia's Interior Minister expressed condolences to the families of those involved on behalf of the government. He described the situation 'a huge tragedy, which probably occurred because of the large number of people and the huge panic'

An official investigation has been launched to get to the bottom of exactly what happened. Authorities in Novi Sad said a day of mourning will be declared for the victims.
