American singer-songwriter John Mayer threw some serious shade at former girlfriend, Taylor Swift while hosting the Late Late Show on 6 February.

The 37-year-old singer jokingly said that he will be avoided by the 25-year-old country crooner during the 57th annual Grammy Awards, which will be held on 8 February at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

"You can see me at the Grammys doing what I do best: being avoided by Taylor Swift," Mayer joked.

"That won't make the Internet at all," he added.

Mayer and Swift briefly dated in 2009, and the two even co-wrote the song, Half of My Heart.

Following their split, the Red hitmaker wrote the song Dear John about him, which was released in 2010.

During an interview with Rolling Stone in 2012, the Your Body Is a Wonderland hitmaker said that the song humiliated him.

"I will say as a songwriter that I think it's kind of cheap songwriting," he said. "I know she's the biggest thing in the world, and I'm not trying to sink anybody's ship, but I think it's abusing your talent to rub your hands together and go, 'Wait till he gets a load of this!' That's bulls**t.'"

Meanwhile, Mayer's on-off girlfriend Katy Perry is also in a feud with Swift.

The Roar singer had dissed Swift during the 2015 Super Bowl half-time show, which took place on 1 February at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Arizona.

During the performance, the 30-year-old singer's backup dancers wore high-waist polka dot bikinis, something similar to what Swift had worn while holidaying with Conor Kennedy on the shores of Hyannis Port, Massachusetts in 2012.
