On the final day of the Cheltenham Festival, the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton made a surprise appearance alongside her husband Prince William.

The duchess made her unannounced appearance at the races in the wake of reports that she has nicknamed her unborn baby "Grape".

The royal couple arrived at Cheltenham to cheer on the 66-1 shot Monbeg Dude in the Gold Cup. The horse is owned by the Zara Phillip's rugby international husband Mike Tindall.

The Gold Cup was won by 11-4 favourite Bobs Worth.

Princess Anne was also present at the race course after arriving earlier in the day.

The duchess wore a brown felt hat by Lock and Co and a dusky pink coat, which she has been seen wearing on and off since 2008.

She is a regular visitor to the Cheltenham Festival.

On Thursday, younger sister Pippa was spotted at the races accompanied by two unidentified companions and close friend Tom Kingston.

The sister of the Duchess of Cambridge wore a mustard Katherine Hooker London coat and a brown fur Cossack hat to the annual horse racing event in Gloucestershire.
