The iconic British automobile brand, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), has launched its new sports utility vehicle 'Evoque' in India with a starting price of £56,983 (4.5 million rupees). Currently four variants of Evoque will be available in India.

At present, JLR is heavily relying on its overseas markets for its volume sales. The Evoque has attracted huge response from European markets since its launch in September and the company has received 30,000 bookings worldwide.

Its new Jaguar XF will be launched in India in a few months. The Land Rover's Freelander 2, Range Rover and Discovery 4 SUVs are already being sold in India. All the models except the Freelander 2 are imported from its factory in the UK.

"The response to the Range Rover Evoque has been phenomenal across the world and India has been no exception. We have seen a lot of interest and excitement around this car in all regions of India and are now pleased to launch the car here through the 'Evoque Experience' tour. The 'Evoque Experience' will allow customers to get up close and personal with the car and understand the sophisticated design as well as the functional and technological qualities of the car," said Rohit Suri, Head of the Premier Car Division, Jaguar Land Rover India, in a statement.

Tata Motors, India's largest auto maker, established the Jaguar Land Rover Company after acquiring the premium brands from Ford Motor Company in 2008. The company has its global headquarters in Coventry, UK, and envisages huge expansion plans with an annual investment of £1.5billion each year.

Recently, in a major management rejig, Tata Motors appointed Jeremy Hicks as the managing director of Jaguar and Land Rover brands in the UK.
