Directioners are ecstatic to learn that One Direction are the first act confirmed to perform at Capital FM's Summertime Ball in June.

Announcing the news with Lisa and Dave, singer Liam Payne admitted he and his bandmates, Harry Styles, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson, are "excited" to hit the stage at Wembley Stadium on Saturday 6 June.

The 21-year-old said: "Wembley is obviously one of the best places to play in the world, so I'm well excited!"

Although past performers have included Taylor Swift, Rihanna and Justin Bieber, the radio station have tweeted that the 2015 event is their "most insane line up... EVER!"

Capital FM are yet to announce which other acts fans can expect to see on the line-up.

One Direction are currently on a hiatus from their On The Road Again tour, which resumes with a European leg on 5 June.

It will be a hectic start to the jaunt as the boys will perform at the Summertime Ball the following afternoon before heading back to Cardiff, Wales for another show that evening.

Missing from all the Summertime fun will be Zayn Malik who dramatically quit the group in March after five years.

However, if Lance Bass from *NSYNC's prediction is correct, Styles, 21, may not be far behind his former bandmate as the US singer believes he will be the next to leave.

Bass said on the Meredith Viera Show recently: "Harry Styles has been ready to go solo for many months, in fact he's been recording solo, he was about to leave. The Zayn thing was just spur of the moment, but I think the best move he could have ever done.

"Because Harry Styles is a household name - my grandmother knows who Harry Styles is - but Zayn Malik, [you] didn't really know the name until he was the first to leave the group. So kudos to him for being smart to leave."
