Brendan Rodgers has made it clear he is still working hard to attract the right players to the club as he looks to further strengthen the Liverpool squad before the end of the transfer window.

The Reds have already completed four deals this summer, adding Luis Alberto, Kolo Toure, Iago Aspas and Simon Mignolet to the squad before the club's pre-season tour of Asia and Australia even began.

With less than three weeks until the new season gets underway, Rodgers has admitted that he is still keen to bring in more quality as he looks to build a side capable of challenging for a place in the top-four.

"They have to be of the right quality, that's the bottom line," Rodgers told the official Liverpool website. "We've got money to spend on getting that quality in, but if it's not available I won't waste it for the sake of bringing a player in.

"We're really working hard to bring in the type of profile that can really help us push on. We just need to see if that's available and affordable."

Liverpool's new signings have already featured during pre-season and it has been a particular impressive start for MIgnolet who has yet to concede a single goal, while Aspas already has three goals to his name.

All of the new boys have settled in really well," added Rodgers. "Simon Mignolet has been first-class. He has shown that he is one of the top young goalkeepers in European football. I think he will prove over the next coming years at Liverpool that he is a top goalkeeper.

"Kolo Toure speaks for himself - his experience and his fitness has been first-class since he came in. And he's a really good man. That was the idea of bringing him in, because of his winning mentality and his personality.

"Iago has settled in well and got a few goals in pre-season, which is great for his confidence. He's a livewire in and around the box, and he's a good man.

"Luis Alberto is obviously still young but has shown the qualities, technically, and has got a strong mentality. I think we can see early on that he can end up being a very good player for Liverpool."

Liverpool have three more pre-season games before the new campaign kicks off with a difficult away trip to Stoke on 17 August.

First up is Steven Gerrard's testimonial against Olympiacos, before an away game against Valerenga and a final warm-up against Celtic as Liverpool look to complete pre-season without a single defeat to their name.
