Liverpool are preparing a move to bring Gremio midfielder Matheus Biteco to Anfield in the summer, according to the Mirror.

Brazilian law does not allow the country's players to move to a foreign club until they turn 18. Biteco celebrates his 18th birthday on 28 June, and the report claims the Merseyside club have already made an approach to sign him in the upcoming transfer window.

The 17-year-old played a crucial role in the Brazilian side which won the Toulon tournament earlier this month.

The Reds have been closely following the young midfielder for over 12 months, and have closely monitored Biteco's brilliant run during Brazil's state championships earlier this year. Brendan Rodgers is now keen on landing him in the summer.

Liverpool share a good relationship with the Brazilian outfit through the transfer of Lucas Leiva six years ago. The 26-year-old completed a move to Anfield for a fee of £5m and Biteco could be available for a similar fee.

It is unlikely that Biteco would get immediate first-team action if Liverpool manage to land him in the summer.

Meanwhile Liverpool are set to win the race to sign 14-year-old talented midfielder Herbie Kane, whose style of play is been compared to that of Reds skipper Steven Gerrard.

The same report claims former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez wants Liverpool's wantaway striker Luis Suarez at his new club, Napoli. The Uruguayan international has reaffirmed his desire to leave Anfield, after having a torrid time at the Merseyside club.

The Italian outfit are destined to lose their star striker Edinson Cavani, who is strongly linked with a move to Manchester City and Chelsea, with Real Madrid also believed to be interested in his services.

The Mirror claims Napoli will get £50m from the sale of Cavani, and Benitez intends to use the funds raised by the sale of the Uruguayan to land his compatriot Suarez in the summer.

However Benitez is likely to face competition, as Suarez has now set his sights on a move to Real Madrid.
