Lori Loughlin Files for Divorce From Mossimo Giannulli Following College Admissions Scandal Strain

Actress Lori Loughlin has officially filed for divorce from Mossimo Giannulli after nearly 28 years of marriage, bringing their long-running separation to the courts following years of reported strain linked to the college admissions scandal that sent both of them to prison.

The Full House actress, 62, filed for divorce on 4 September, citing 'irreconcilable differences,' according to court documents. The filing comes just over a year after the couple separated and months after reports suggested their relationship had struggled to recover from the fallout of the admissions case.

What Strained Their Marriage

Loughlin and Giannulli's marriage came under intense public scrutiny during the college admissions scandal, which resulted in both serving prison sentences.

The couple were accused of paying $500,000 (roughly £370,000) to college admissions consultant William 'Rick' Singer to facilitate their daughters' admission to the University of Southern California by falsely presenting them as crew recruits.

Loughlin and Giannulli later pleaded guilty to federal charges. Loughlin served two months in prison, while Giannulli served five months.

Years later, the repercussions were reportedly still affecting their relationship. A source told PEOPLE in January that the experience had played a significant role in their marital problems.

'Things have never been the same after weathering the college admission fallout and the prison sentences together,' the source said.

The insider added that Loughlin felt 'betrayed' and claimed the couple were in 'very different places' at the time.

The divorce filing itself does not attribute the breakdown of the marriage to the scandal, instead citing irreconcilable differences.

Loughlin Was Reportedly 'Extremely Angry' After Split

Court documents list 25 August 2025 as Loughlin and Giannulli's date of separation.

Their split did not become public until October, when Loughlin's representative, Elizabeth Much, confirmed that the pair were living separately.

'They are living apart and taking a break from their marriage. There are no legal proceedings at this time,' Much said on 2 October 2025.

Following the announcement, a source told PEOPLE that Loughlin's friends were 'rallying behind her' and were 'very angry' with Giannulli.

Another insider said in January that Loughlin remained 'extremely angry,' while Giannulli reportedly wanted the situation resolved quietly.

Neither Loughlin nor Giannulli has publicly detailed the personal circumstances that led to their separation.

Loughlin Divorce Filing Reveals Prenup

The new divorce documents also shed light on the financial arrangements surrounding their marriage.

According to reports, Loughlin confirmed that she and Giannulli had a prenuptial agreement before marrying in November 1997. The couple later amended the agreement in 2015.

They share two daughters, Isabella Rose, 27, and Olivia Jade, 26. As both are adults, child custody will not be part of the divorce proceedings.

Giannulli, a fashion designer who founded the Mossimo clothing brand, and Loughlin had been married for nearly three decades before separating.
