The draw for the knockout phase of the Champions League was made today, with Manchester United drawn against Real Madrid, Arsenal to play Bayern Munich and Celtic up against Juventus.

Undoubtedly the tie of the round will be Manchester United versus Real Madrid. Arguably the two biggest clubs on the planet, this will be the first time the two sides have met since 2003. As winners of their group, United will be gutted to have been drawn against the La Liga champions, though they will have the slim advantage of playing the second leg at Old Trafford. The two matches will also be the first time managers Alex Ferguson and Mourinho have faced off since the Special one's days as Chelsea boss.

Arsenal face a tough test against last competition's runners-up Bayern Munich. The Gunners have already struggled against German opposition this year, losing 2-0 to FC Schalke at the Emirates. The match will also see Arsenal striker Lukas Podlski play against his former club.

Celtic also face a real challenge to make the quarter finals after being drawn against Serie A winners Juventus. The Old Lady, making their return to the knockout phase for the first time since 2009, have impressed so far beating Chelsea to top the group. But after the hoops heroics in beating Barcelona 2-1 at Park Head, manager Neil Lennon will feel his side can match anyone on the day.

There are plenty of other mouth-watering clashes in the round of 16, as Barcelona play AC Milan, Valencia take on Paris St Germain and Shahktar Donetsk face Borussia Dortmund. Elsewhere Porto play Malaga and Galatasary will take on Schalke.

The first legs of the Champions League last-16 ties will played from the 12th February.
