After two consecutive Premier League losses, Sir Alex Ferguson's Red Devils bounced back in style at Old Trafford on Saturday night by claiming an emphatic 3-0 victory over Bolton Wanderers.

Paul Scholes made his comeback a memorable affair by scoring the opener around half time. The second finish came from Danny Welbeck on 74 minutes. And Michael Carrick's amazing finish on 83 minutes sealed the victory in favour of Manchester United in a more or less one-sided game. Wayne Rooney missed a penalty earlier, on 22 minutes.

United dominated the game from start to finish but wasted some opportunities too. They are once again level with rivals Manchester City at the summit of the League table.

Sir Alex praised the leadership role of his stand-in captain Patrice Evra after the match. "I think one of your players who has been playing all the time should be in the forefront to be captain, and that was the case with Patrice.

"He's a very popular player with a good personality, which is important to have if you're captain of a club like ours. He's very friendly and has got a good humour about him, but he's also quite a determined lad."
